Educators around the nation are grappling with so-called “anti-critical race theory” laws that are cropping up around the nation. What’s going on here, and how should educators respond to this development.
What is critical race theory?
Critical race theory (or “CRT”) is a school of thought that explores and critiques American history, society, and institutions of power from a race-based perspective. Also institutions (the criminal justice system, education system, labor market, housing market, and healthcare system) are laced with racism embedded in laws, regulations, rules, and procedures that lead to differential outcomes by race.
Fox News has mentioned “critical race theory” 1,300 times in less than four months. Why? Because critical race theory (CRT) has become a new bogeyman for people unwilling to acknowledge our country’s racist history and how it impacts the present .To understand why CRT has become such a flash point in the culture, it is important to understand what it is and what it is not. Opponents fear that CRT admonishes all white people for being oppressors while classifying all Black people as hopelessly oppressed victims. These fears have spurred school boards and state legislatures from Tennessee to Idaho to ban teachings about racism in classrooms. However, there is a fundamental problem. It speaks to how normative racial ideology is to American identity that some people just cannot separate the two. There are also people who may recognize America’s racist past but have bought into the false narrative that the U.S. is now an equitable democracy. They are simply unwilling to remove the blind spot obscuring the fact that America is still not great for everyone.
Even as I speak on this subject of CRT , I really don’t believe people get the Full of grasp of what’s going on. Even in our own very own community how you see there is a racial divide between the European culture and blackculture. Don’t get me wrong I want to be fair when I come up with my conclusion but all I see is that The Europeans having a upper hand when it comes to financial stability housing, and etc. I believe we as christians or believers should see people as they are and try to encourage as many people of our culture to succeed. One Avenue I believe we need to have more black entrepreneurs in our community the fact that we have a little to none black entrepreneurs in our communityThe reason why I say this is because we don’t need to be dependent on the European culture in order for us to survive. I have a real problem when we talk about black lives matter , European culture says all lives matter we as believers need to be able to say, all lives matter as well as black lives matter but all lives is not in trouble right now it’s only black lives that are in jeopardy of being extinct
